A few good blogs

Well here I am again with two posts in one week - blimey! I don't even know where I have found the time to be honest.  It's been a very busy week but end of term is looming and I am counting down the last few hours in the classroom before we begin two glorious weeks off!!  Yay!!   It's been a very 'cuddly' week this week has.  We visited the children's farm on Monday and I cuddled a lamb, a baby chick, a tiny rabbit and a rat, and stroked an alpaca and calf.  Then today we had a visit from The Animal Lady and I got to stroke a python, a tawny owl, a tortoise and even a skunk!! OMG, they were all absolutely gorgeous and I have been in my element!  I did decline stroking a bearded dragon though - sweet though it was, it looked too prickly and uninviting to me, so I just blew him a kiss!!

Here's a little something I conjured up this week which I am showing in 4 different Magnolia blog challenges.

I am showing this off in:
Totally Tilda - Tilda holding flowers (I did have some after all!!)

and here's the finished product:

It's a tealight candle holder which I saw on Stempelinmaleins blog and I just had to have a go.  It honestly does have lots of folds as you have to make a box to begin with, then there's the back/underside.  Tilda is coloured with Copics - my current 'thing' and I hope you like!

If you've got a few minutes to spare, it would be great if you would pop over to Midweek Magnolias and take a peak at the amazing work our fabulous DT have created with our sketch this week, and hopefully you will be inspired to join in (pssst.... there's a prize from Magnolia for one lucky player!!!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Midweek Magnolias - Week 4

Happy Wednesday all!  Really rushing this morning as I have to dash into work early, so straight to the point, here is my card for this week's Midweek Magnolias theme, and we have another sketch:

I think you're going to see a lot of this little lady on my blog because I just adore her, and I love colouring this image.

Sorry to rush but that seems to be my life at the moment - roll on end of term!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by here, and PLEASE do pop over to the blog and take part because you could just end up winning a fab mystery prize from Magnolia themselves, just as Chanelle did this week!  You will also see some wonderful inspiring samples over there from our absolutely uber-talented Design Team!  Go treat your eyeballs!  :o) xx

Get Set for the Weekend!

It's Friday and I am posting! OMGosh!!  Well, to be honest, I had half of this project made last week and I just needed an excuse to finish it!  I had my Craft Group last Thursday and decided that we should all make 'grown up jumble jars'!  My craft group are some lovely friends that I met when our children all started school together back in 2003 and we get together on a regular basis to play with my stash!  When our children were at First School, the most popular stall at the Summer Fete was the Jumble Jar stall, so we've all endured years of turning old jam jars into Dalek's and Space Rockets, etc... so I decided that it was time we made one for ourselves which was nice and girly!  I didn't get round to finishing mine on the night because I was too busy helping the others with their punching and distressing, etc... So, when I spotted that Magnolias Down Under were having an Old Treasures theme where you had to recycle something, a light popped on in my head.  Out came one of my Mothers Day stamps (isn't she just gorgeous!!) and I had her inked up and coloured in no time.  I decided to mount her onto the front of my recycled Yankee Candle jar and now I just have to find a use for it!  LOL!!  Here's the finished product:
And that's my lot for today.  There's still loads of time to enter the Midweek Magnolias challenge for this week and we'd love to see your projects over there!

Thanks for stopping by - hope you have a great weekend, it's quite tropical here at the moment!! :o) xx

Midweek Magnolias - Week 3, A Recipe

Another Wednesday morning, another new Midweek Magnolia theme, and this week we have a Recipe, 1-2-3.  Your project this week must include 1 Ribbon, 2 Pearls and 3 Flowers!  Easy-peasy, and the chance of a mystery prize from Magnolia themselves - who could want for more!!

I've gone back to basics with my card this week.  My short-term goal for 2012 is to master Copics!  This was going to be the subject (sort of!) for a future challenge at MM, but I'm having to re-think that one now (all will be revealed - watch this space!) because I have really fallen for my Copics and my collection is growing.  I know I have a long way to go to be up there with the best of them, but I am really enjoying the journey.  Anyways, I digress - this week I delved into my Maggies collection and decided that I wanted to use my earlier stamps a bit more.  I sold a number of them off before Christmas but I did hold onto those which are very dear to me, and this little lovely is the most dear of all because she was the one that got me started with Magnolias in the first place!!  She was the first one I bought and I was so excited when she popped through my door!  Here is my card:

I loved these little guys and gals long before they got hair (and socks!! LOL!) and my intention is to use my older stamps much more in the coming weeks.  The sentiment is one of my home-made rub-on's and the papers are from Grace Taylor's Vintage collection.

Thanks for stopping by and if you find yourself with a little time on your hands, please get over to Midweek Magnolias and join in.  The fantastic team have creates some wonderful samples for your inspiration so please go and say Hello to them too - they are just such a fabulous bunch!

Pssst....  We're looking for Guest Desginers too - fancy it??  :o) xx

Midweek Magnolias - Week 2

Happy Wednesday all!!  It's week 2 at Midweek Magnolias and we have a sketch for you over there - why don't you check it out and join in - everyone is welcome!  The fab team have created some wonderful inspiring samples for you too, so it's worth popping in just for that!!!

Here is my card for this week's theme.  Look familiar?  Hmmm.....  Somehow I need to get this Portobello Road stuff used up - I bought TONS of the stuff!! LOL!!

This week I decided to use one of the Bon Voyage Tilda's from a couple of years ago - I never tire of this stamp, I think it's one of my very favourites.

Having to rush here because I forgot to do my post last night and I need to get to work!!! Sigh, I wish I had a couple more hours to myself in the week!!

Have a great week all, and please pop in to say Hi to the Midweek Magnolias!  :o) xx

Midweek Magnolias - We're off!!!

It's finally here - the start of a new journey with a brand new challenge blog - Midweek Magnolias.  I know there are lots of Magnolia challenge blogs out there, and every one of them is just fab, but if like me you just love any excuse to get your Maggies out and join in with the rest of the Tilda-loving community in creating and showing off your projects, then one more blog is just a bonus!  And we have had such great fun putting together a number of themes for other Magnolia fans to join in with and enjoy.  But you can't have an exciting new blog without a fabulously talented team, and I think that Midweek Magnolias have just that - such a lovely bunch of ladies, all with superb skills, and all with different styles, all to tempt and inspire your to play along with us.  We have also been extremely lucky to have Magnolia themselves offer weekly prizes to some lucky players, so why hold back?  You know you want to play!! LOL!

We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to the very lovely and extremely talented Roberta of Prairie Fairy Designs who has done us the great honour of creating our gorgeous new blog background.  But she also has an amazing range of her own digital images that you really have to see, so please pay her a visit and leave some love!

Right then, here we go - our first theme is Hello!  Pure and simple!  It's a nice easy open theme to gently ease you into our blog - gives us a chance to get to know each other.  As long as your project has some form of greeting on the front then it's appropriate for our theme this week.  Here is my creation:

Obviously feeling quite patriotic this week! LOL!!  This is my stepper card made using the gorgeous Portobello Road collection.  I fell in love with this the first time I saw it because it matches my favourite set of mugs!!  I'm not kidding, I have two favourite sets - a Cath Kidston collection and a Shabby Union Jack collection (Tesco's own!) and I refuse to drink out of any other cup!  (DH despairs of me!).

Anyways,  I hope you like it - if you happen to be popping in here, I would be really grateful if you would also visit my lovely teamies who's links are just over there --------> and leave them a little love also!

Look forward to seeing you all as I go visiting your blogs this week! :o) xx

What a week!

It IS Monday, isn't it???  I tell you, I don't know whether I'm coming or going at the moment - the weeks are just whizzing by and then the weekends are virtually non-existent!  It's all been quite exciting though.  My youngest took the 11+ exam back in November and first thing Thursday morning I woke up to a text informing me that he's been offered a place at one of the King Edward Schools in Birmingham which we are all very excited about, but especially him!  It's going to be such a fabulous opportunity for him and we are so proud.  Then I came down to the pooter to discover that my eldest has been offered his first choice school too which is fantastic news and a huge relief!  So I have TWO brand new uniforms to get used to from September.

Away in the background the fabulous team of talented ladies at Midweek Magnolias are busy creating some wonderful samples for the new blog which starts this Wednesday, 7th March.  It would be fab to see lots of players, we are going to have some great fun!  However, my card today was created for The Official Magnolia Inspiration Challenge where this week's theme is Tilda's Birthday and Tina's sketch.  They want to see a girly card with Happy Birthday on it, and I was happy to oblige:

That's my lot for today, I hope you like.  I'm being harrassed to take my boys out to town now so I'll love you and leave you.  Hope to see you on Wednesday 7th - put it in your diary! :o)  Thanks for stopping by! xx
